Chef Khalil’s journey with food began at eight years old, standing beside his Aunt Grace and Uncle Herb on their farm in Jarretsville, Maryland. What began as curiosity became passion. Cooking wasn’t just something he did; it became his therapy, his art, and his calling.

He was raised on the tradition of big family barbecues where food wasn’t just nourishment but the centerpiece of connection—laughter, stories, and love passed around with every plate. That experience shaped his belief that food has the power to bring people together in ways nothing else can.

With that vision in his heart, Chef Khalil opened Katch 22 in 2021, followed by Katch 22 Soul in 2022. Through resilience, hard work, and unwavering dedication, he built more than restaurants—he built gathering places where guests are welcomed like family.
